Robert Farmer is President of Concept Communiqués, Inc., a Marketing Communications Consultancy (conceptcommuniques.com).

He is a planning engineer, engine industry executive, marketing communications specialist and accomplished public speaker on energy and climate change issues, with a particular interest in power generation and distributed energy systems planning. A British-born Canadian, he was a production planning engineer with Bristol-Siddeley Engines/Rolls-Royce Gas Turbines Ltd. in the United Kingdom before moving to Canada and eventually the USA. He has over 30 years of engine and energy industry experience in North America. Mr. Farmer is also President of Third Planet, Inc. (thethirdplanet.org), a 501(c)3 non-profit operating foundation working on climate change and energy issues, and accredited observers to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Third Planet’s interests and expertise covers a complete range of urban and rural spatial planning issues from the ‘energy engineering and built environment’ perspective.

A Florida resident since 1984, Mr. Farmer is a member of the Climate and Energy Specialist Working Group of the World Conservation Union’s Commission on Environmental Law (IUCN CEL CESG), an accredited observer to the meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and was an accredited delegate to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Among many activities, he served on the Energy Advisory Committee of the Governor’s Commission for a Sustainable South Florida (1996-97); was a Future of Florida Assembly Participant (2000); a consultant to FDEP’s Florida’s Energy Future Report (2003-04), and a member of the Climate Change Advisory Group of the Florida Energy Commission (2007).
